5.5. Commission delegated regulations supplementing Regulation (EU) No 648/2012 on OTC derivatives, central counterparties and trade repositories (EMIR) (C(2012)9593 and C(2012)9623) (vote)
After having reiterated the Commission's attachment to the principle of legal certainty, Connie Hedegaard (Member of the Commission) made a statement to the effect that :
- the Commission assured the House that, when the decision was taken on the compensation requirement concerning certain OTC derivatives, sufficient time would be allowed to enable non-financial companies to adapt to the new rules;
- the Commission was also willing to clarify the application of the confirmation deadline standards referred to in Article 11(1)(a) of EMIR in the future;
- the Commission stood ready to work together with Parliament to ensure an open dialogue and transparency about its planning for forthcoming technical standards and ensure that Parliament has enough time to assess them;
Following this statement, and after having confirmed that she had received verbal and written assurances that the problems would be addressed through the Commission publishing frequently asked questions and the responses to those, Sharon Bowles (Chair of the ECON Committee) withdrew the motion for a resolution.
