10. Announcement by the President

The President announced that he had asked Janusz Korwin-Mikke to withdraw the comments he had made in the Chamber on 16 July 2014 in contravention of Parliament's Rules of Procedure (minutes of 16.7.2014, item 8) or to present his apologies.

As Janusz Korwin-Mikke had not showed any intention of withdrawing his comments, and given that those comments were discriminatory, racist and contrary to human dignity, the President had taken the decision, in accordance with Rule 166(3)(b), to penalise Janusz Korwin-Mikke by depriving him of the right to his daily subsistence allowance for a period of ten days.

The President noted that, in accordance with Rule 167, Janusz Korwin-Mikke had two weeks in which to lodge an internal appeal against this decision with the Bureau..
