5. Action taken following a request for waiver of immunity

The request for the waiver of the immunity of Dan Nica, submitted by the Romanian authorities in connection with a criminal investigation opened by the National Anti-Corruption Directorate in Romania, had been announced at the sitting of 24 November 2014 (minutes of 24.11.2014, item 6).

In accordance with the Rules of Procedure, the request had been referred to the committee responsible, the JURI Committee.

The JURI Committee had considered the request, and, by letter of 15 September 2015, had delivered its recommendation that the request for waiver of immunity of Dan Nica did not call from any action by Parliament at this stage.

Parliament noted this recommendation and, pursuant to Rule 9(9), notified the Romanian authorities accordingly.
