5. Announcements by the President

The President announced a possible strike by drivers from the external service provider and stated that the requisite measures had been taken to ensure the availability of transport to the airport and railway stations.

The President announced that on 12 December 2016 the Bureau had studied the appeal submitted by Jasenko Selimovic against the decision taken by the President on 22 November 2016 to impose on him a penalty for his behaviour, which constituted psychological harassment of his accredited parliamentary assistants (minutes of 22.11.2016, item 13), and that the decision had been upheld unanimously.

The President announced that, following the recommendation of the Consultative Committee on the conduct of Members, the President of Parliament had decided to impose a penalty on Udo Voigt, in accordance with Rule 166, for his failure to comply with the reporting measures set out in the Code of Conduct and its Implementing Measures. The penalty would consist of a reprimand. The Member concerned had been informed of the decision that day.

The following spoke: Udo Bullmann, on behalf of the S&D Group, to speak against what Jeroen Dijsselbloem, President of the Eurogroup, said about Greece, and to request an extraordinary Conference of Presidents with Jeroen Dijsselbloem present. He asked that Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker state the Commission's opinion and that the President of Parliament be informed of this. (The President took note).
