5. Announcements by the President

Verbatim reports

The President made an announcement about the serious damage caused by the earthquakes in Italy on that and the previous day and sent a message of solidarity on behalf of Parliament to the Italian people.

The following spoke::

—    Elena Valenciano, on the situation of migrants in the winter conditions,

—   Rosa D'Amato on the earthquakes in Italy,

—   Eleni Theocharous on the refusal to allow a photographic exhibition on Nicosia in Parliament's premises,

—   Eleonora Forenza on the situation Italy in the aftermath of the earthquake,

—   Jill Seymour on the way the President was elected.

The President confirmed that there had been an error of interpretation when Peter Lundgren spoke the previous day (minutes of 18.1.2017, item 14).
