The President denounced the recent terrorist attacks in Egypt, Iraq and Afghanistan, which had followed the Manchester attack on 22 May, and he offered Parliament's condolences to the families of the victims.

Parliament observed a minute's silence in memory of the victims.

The President announced US President Donald Trump's decision to take the USA out of the Paris Agreement on climate change, and said he would decide jointly with Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and European Council President Donald Tusk on an appropriate course of action.
