1. Resumption of the session

The sitting opened at 15.10.


2. Statements by the President

The President denounced the recent terrorist attacks in Egypt, Iraq and Afghanistan, which had followed the Manchester attack on 22 May, and he offered Parliament's condolences to the families of the victims.

Parliament observed a minute's silence in memory of the victims.

The President announced US President Donald Trump's decision to take the USA out of the Paris Agreement on climate change, and said he would decide jointly with Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and European Council President Donald Tusk on an appropriate course of action.


3. Approval of the minutes of the previous sitting

The minutes of the previous sitting were approved.


4. Composition of Parliament

The competent French authorities had advised that Thierry Cornillet and Patricia Lalonde had been elected to replace, respectively, Sylvie Goulard and Marielle De Sarnez as Members of the European Parliament, with effect from 18 May 2017.

Parliament took note of their election.

Under Rule 3(2), until such time as their credentials had been verified or a ruling had been given on any dispute, and provided that they had previously made a written declaration stating that they did not hold any office incompatible with that of Member of the European Parliament, Thierry Cornillet and Patricia Lalonde would take their seats in Parliament and on its bodies and would enjoy all the rights attaching thereto.

Wednesday

The President proposed, with the political groups' agreement, to change the Commission statement on the Multiannual Framework for the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights for 2018-2022 (item 27 on the final draft agenda) to Council and Commission statements.

Parliament approved the proposal.

Thursday

The President announced that Heidi Hautala's report on the request for waiver of the immunity of Béla Kovács (A8-0203/2017) would be put to the vote at voting time the following day, Thursday, 1 June 2017.

The order of business was thus established.
