9. Council position at first reading

The President announced that, in accordance with Rule 64(1) the following position had been received from the Council, together with the reasons which had led to its adoption, and the Commission's position on:

- - Position of the Council at first reading with a view to the adoption of a directive of the European Parliament and of the Council amending Council Framework Decision 2004/757/JHA in order to include new psychoactive substances in the definition of ‘drug’ and repealing Council Decision 2005/387/JHA (10537/1/2017 - C8-0325/2017 – 2013/0304(COD)) (11655/1/2017 – COM(2017)0560)

referred back to committee responsible LIBE

The three-month period available to Parliament to adopt its position would therefore begin the following day, (6 October 2017).
