4. Statement by the President

The President made a statement on the entry into force of the General Data Protection Regulation. While highlighting the central role Parliament had played in the adoption of this Regulation and thanking the rapporteur Jan Philipp Albrecht, the President stressed the fact that under the new rules it would be possible to prevent the personal data of millions of citizens being misused in future to influence election results.

The President also sketched out forthcoming priorities for technological revolution governance.
