9. Composition of Parliament

Frans Timmermans, First Vice-President of the Commission, had notified the President that he was giving up his seat in Parliament with effect from 2 July 2019.

Parliament took note that, under Rule 7(1) of the Act of 20 September 1976 concerning the election of the Members of the European Parliament by direct universal suffrage, the office in question was incompatible with that of Member of the European Parliament, and, in accordance with Rule 4(1) and (4), it declared his seat vacant with effect from 2 July 2019.

Jeppe Kofod had been appointed as Denmark's Foreign Affairs Minister with effect from 27 June 2019.

Parliament took note that, under Rule 7(1) of the Act of 20 September 1976 concerning the election of the Members of the European Parliament by direct universal suffrage, the office in question was incompatible with that of Member of the European Parliament, and, in accordance with the second paragraph of Rule 3(2) and with Rule 4(1), it declared his seat vacant with effect from 2 July 2019.
