1. Opening of the sitting

The sitting opened at 9.00.


2. Composition of new committee

The President announced that following the setting-up of:

— the special committees on:

   beating cancer;

   artificial intelligence in a digital age; and

   foreign interference in all democratic process in the European Union, including disinformation;

—   the subcommittee on tax matters;

—   the committee of inquiry on the protection of animals during transport;

the political groups and the non-attached Members had communicated their appointments to the President in accordance with Rule 209.

The composition of the new committees was published on Parliament's website and annexed to the minutes of the sitting (minutes of 10.7.2020, Annex 1).


3. Negotiations ahead of Parliament's first reading (Rule 71) (action taken)

The President announced that no request had been received on behalf of a number of Members or a political group or groups reaching at least the minimum threshold concerning the other decisions to enter into interinstitutional negotiations as announced in the minutes of Wednesday 8 July 2020 (minutes of 8.7.2020, item 4).

The ITRE, EMPL and INTA Committees had thus been able to initiate negotiations on expiry of the deadline laid down in Rule 71(2).

18. Signing of acts adopted in accordance with the ordinary legislative procedure (Rule 79)

The President announced that, together with the President of the Council, the President of Parliament had on Wednesday 24 June 2020 signed the following acts adopted under the ordinary legislative procedure:

- Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council amending Regulations (EU) No 575/2013 and (EU) 2019/876 as regards certain adjustments in response to the COVID 19 pandemic (00018/2020/LEX - C9-0188/2020 - 2020/0066(COD));

- Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council amending Regulation (EU) No 1305/2013 as regards a specific measure to provide exceptional temporary support under the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) in response to the COVID 19 outbreak(00017/2020/LEX - C9-0187/2020 - 2020/0075(COD)).

The President announced that, together with the President of the Council, the President of Parliament would on 15 July 2020 sign the following acts adopted under the ordinary legislative procedure:

- Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on the conduct of clinical trials with and supply of medicinal products for human use containing or consisting of genetically modified organisms intended to treat or prevent coronavirus disease (COVID-19) (00028/2020/LEX - C9-0201/2020 - 2020/0128(COD));
