10. Election of a Vice-President of the European Parliament

The President announced that the PPE Group had nominated Roberta Metsola as candidate.

Since Roberta Metsola was the only candidate and as no requests had been for a vote by secret ballot by the deadline set (minutes of 11.11.2020, item 8), the President proclaimed Roberta Metsola Vice-President of the European Parliament and congratulated her on her election.

Pursuant to Rule 20(1) she would take the place of the outgoing Vice-President, Mairead McGuiness, in order of precedence, which was to say first Vice-President.
