Before signing the budget for the financial year 2021, the President made the following statement:

'The Council position of 14 December 2020 has been approved by Parliament without amendment. Pursuant to Article 314 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, the budgetary procedure for the financial year 2021 can therefore be deemed completed. I hereby declare that the budget of the European Union for the financial year 2021 has been definitively adopted.'

The President signed the budget in the presence of Pierre Larrouturou and Olivier Chastel (rapporteurs for the general budget).

The President read out the results of the votes on the four measures under the urgent procedure that would enter into force should no agreement be reached with the United Kingdom:

Basic road freight and road passenger connectivity at the end of the transition period with regard to the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the Union ***I
