3. Statements by the President
The President made a statement on her visit to Ukraine, the Rada and her meeting with the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. She referred to the atrocities committed by the Russian army and stressed that these inhuman acts could not go unpunished. The President stressed that Ukraine needed further support.
Parliament observed a minute's silence in memory of the victims of Bucha and Irpin, and all victims of war, terror and violence.

4. Approval of the minutes of the previous sitting
The minutes of the sittings of 23 March 2022 and 24 March 2022 were approved.
5. Composition of political groups
Tatjana Ždanoka was no longer a member of the Verts/ALE Group and as of 1 April 2022 was sitting with the non-attached Members.
6. Negotiations ahead of Parliament’s first reading (Rule 71) (action taken)
The decisions of the JURI, EMPL/FEMM and ECON committees to enter into interinstitutional negotiations had been announced on 23 March 2022 (minutes of 23.3.2022, item 7).
A request for a vote in Parliament had been made by the PPE Group and by a number of Members reaching at least the medium threshold under Rule 71(2) on the joint decision of the EMPL and FEMM committees.
- EMPL/FEMM committees – Report on the proposal for a directive of the European Parliament and of the Council to strengthen the application of the principle of equal pay for equal work or work of equal value between men and women through pay transparency and enforcement mechanisms (COM(2021)0093 – C9-0089/2021 – 2021/0050(COD)) – Rapporteurs: Kira Marie Peter-Hansen, Samira Rafaela (A9-0056/2022).
The vote would be held the following day, 5 April 2022.
As no request for a vote had been made on the other decisions under Rule 71(2), the relevant committees had been able to begin negotiations after the deadline had passed.
7. Negotiations ahead of Parliament’s first reading (Rule 71)
The ECON and LIBE committees had decided to open interinstitutional negotiations in accordance with Rule 71 of the Rules of Procedure, on the basis of the following report:
