The minutes of the sittings of 18 January 2024 and 25 January 2024 were approved.
4. Composition of Parliament
The competent French authorities had notified the President of the election of Guy Lavocat to the European Parliament to replace Stéphane Séjourné with effect from 12 January 2024.
The competent German authorities had notified the President of the election of Niels Geuking to the European Parliament to replace Helmut Geuking with effect from 5 February 2024.
Parliament took due note of their election.
Under Rule 3(2), until such time as their credentials had been verified or a ruling had been given on any dispute, and provided that they had previously made a written declaration stating that they did not hold any office incompatible with that of Member of the European Parliament, Guy Lavocat and Niels Geuking would take their seats in Parliament and on its bodies and would enjoy all the rights attaching thereto.
5. Verification of credentials
On the basis of a unanimous proposal issued by the JURI Committee at its meeting of 24 January 2024, and in accordance with Rule 3(4), Parliament verified the credentials and confirmed the mandates of WitoldPahl and WłodzimierzKarpiński with effect from 16 November 2023, RafałRomanowski with effect from 29 November 2023, and FrançoisThiollet with effect from 30 November 2023.
6. Composition of political groups
Aldo Patriciello was no longer a member of the PPE Group and had joined the ID Group as of 29 January 2024.
Petros Kokkalis was no longer a member of The Left Group and had joined the Verts/ALE Group as of 31 January 2024.
