7. Follow-up to a request for the defence of immunity

On 7 March 2024, the JURI Committee had concluded that the request for the defence of Eva Kaili’s immunity announced in plenary on 12 June 2023 (minutes of 12.6.2023, item 7) was inadmissible in direct application of the Protocol on privileges and immunities of the European Union, under which immunity cannot be claimed when a Member is found in the act of committing an offence. The procedure relating to that request for the defence of privileges and immunities was therefore closed.
