European Parliament legislative resolution of 25 September 2007 on the proposal for a Council decision authorising France to apply a reduced rate of excise duty on "traditional" rum produced in its overseas departments and repealing Council Decision 2002/166/EC of 18 February 2002 (COM(2007)0318 – C6-0249/2007 – 2007/0131(CNS))

The European Parliament,
– having regard to the Commission proposal to the Council (COM(2007)0318),
– having regard to Article 299(2) of the EC Treaty, pursuant to which the Council consulted Parliament (C6-0249/2007),
– having regard to Rules 51 and 43(1) of its Rules of Procedure,
– having regard to the report of the Committee on Regional Development (A6-0318/2007),
1. Approves the Commission proposal;
2. Calls on the Council to notify Parliament if it intends to depart from the text approved by Parliament;
3. Asks the Council to consult Parliament again if it intends to amend the Commission proposal substantially;
4. Instructs its President to forward its position to the Council and the Commission.
