European Parliament legislative resolution of 11 October 2007 on the proposal for a Council decision on the conclusion of the relevant agreements under Article XXI GATS with Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, the Separate customs territory of Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen and Matsu (Chinese Taipei), Columbia, Cuba, Ecuador, Hong Kong China, India, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, the Philippines, Switzerland, and the United States, on the necessary compensatory adjustments resulting from the accession of the Czech Republic, the Republic of Estonia, the Republic of Cyprus, the Republic of Latvia, the Republic of Lithuania, the Republic of Hungary, the Republic of Malta, the Republic of Austria, the Republic of Poland, the Republic of Slovenia, the Slovak Republic, the Republic of Finland and the Kingdom of Sweden to the European Union (11507/2007 - COM(2007)0154 – C6-0239/2007 – 2007/0055(CNS))

The European Parliament,

–   having regard to the proposal for a Council decision (COM(2007)0154),

–   having regard to Articles 133(1) and (5) and 300(2) of the EC Treaty,

–   having regard to Article 300(3), first subparagraph, of the EC Treaty, pursuant to which the Council consulted Parliament (C6-0239/2007),

–   having regard to Rules 43(1), 51 and 83(7) of its Rules of Procedure,

–   having regard to the report of the Committee on International Trade (A6-0340/2007),

1.  Approves conclusion of the agreements;

2.  Instructs its President to forward its position to the Council and Commission, and the governments and parliaments of the Member States and of the third countries that are party to the relevant abovementioned agreements.
