The President of the European Parliament, Jerzy Buzek, will attend today, Monday, 3 of May 2010, the swearing-in ceremony for the European Commission before the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg.

Jerzy Buzek states: "The EU needs a strong and self-confident and independent European Commission to ensure that all the Member States respect our common rules. This has never been as important as in these times."

The swearing-in before the European Judges is the last formal act of the installation of the new European Commission which was approved by a majority of the European Parliament on 9 February 2010 (488 in favour, 137 against, 72 abstentions).
