Bridge the Pond, Wednesday, 3 March 2021

Secondary school students from Ireland and the US will meet on 3 March 2021 with Maria Walsh MEP and Chris Hurst, Member of the Virginia House of Delegates in a Bridge the Pond initiative connecting secondary school students from the US and the EU.

Following the launch of the US-Ireland edition of Bridge the Pond on 27 January, the students from The King’s Hospital School* in Dublin and Blacksburg High School in Virginia have been working in a series of virtual meet-ups on climate activism and sustainability; digital citizenship and social media, and studying abroad.

The students will also get the opportunity to present their ideas to Emer Rocke, Deputy Chief of Mission in the Irish Embassy in Washington DC and Christopher Wurst, Acting Deputy Chief of Mission in the US Embassy in Ireland who will be in attendance on the day.

Bridge the Pond initiative sees secondary school students in the European Union debate and discuss key topical issues with high school students from the United States.

The European Parliament Liaison Office in Dublin is delighted to have worked with the European Parliament Liaison Office in Washington DC in bringing the Bridge the Pond initiative to Ireland.
