Careers in the EU
Careers in the European Parliament
The European Parliament employs some 8,000 officials and other staff in total posted to Parliament’s three places of work (Luxembourg, Strasbourg, Brussels) and to the Liaison Offices in the Member States. Recruitment to the European Parliament is by open competition organised by the European Personnel Selection Office (EPSO). The European Parliament Liaison Office in Ireland does not recruit staff directly. For details of careers and traineeships with the European Parliament, check out the brochure "Join the European Parliament" on our publications page under the About Us section.
European Personnel Selection Office
The European Personnel Selection Office (EPSO) is responsible for selecting staff to work for the Institutions and agencies of the European Union including the European Parliament. Full information on recruitment procedures, including a timetable for upcoming competitions, may be found on their website. Selection competitions for temporary staff are generally run by the Institutions and Agencies themselves, rather than by EPSO. Candidates are therefore advised to regularly visit the websites of the Institutions and the EU Agencies if they are interested in such opportunities.
Parliamentary Assistant
If you are interested in working as a parliamentary assistant you should contact the MEP directly as each Member employs his/her own assistant(s). MEPs also offer traineeships.
Political groups in the European Parliament
Details of vacancies and traineeships with political groups in the European Parliament are advertised on their websites.
