The 11th annual Citizens’ Energy Forum

The 11th annual Citizens’ Energy Forum took place in the Aviva Conference Centre in Dublin, on September 12th and 13th. Former European Parliament President Jerzy Buzek and Irish MEP Ciarán Cuffe were among the speakers over the two days.  

Former European Parliament President Jerzu Buzek spoke in a panel discussion on Day 1 of the forum, entitled: “Ensuring a fair and inclusive energy transition for all”. Over the course of the panel, Buzek emphasised that the Clean Energy Package should be for all Europeans - “The all is important.”

Dublin MEP Ciarán Cuffe of the Green Party was a panellist in an interactive session on Day 2 of the forum, entitled “Moving towards a carbon neutral energy system - the role of consumers”.

The overall focus of the forum was on the role of the consumer in the clean energy transition, and the importance of keeping them educated and informed on the matter.

Other speakers over the course of the two days included Klaus-Dieter Borchardt, Deputy Director-General of the Directorate-Generale for Energy, Monique Goyens of the The European Consumer Organisation (BEUC), David Kerins of the European Investment Bank, and Dan Hatter of Fridays for the Future.
