LUX Film Prize 2019
The feminist satire by North Macedonian director Teona Strugar Mitevska "God Exists, Her Name is Petrunya" was voted by the Members of the European Parliament as the 2019 LUX Prize Winner. On December 6th and 7th, the European Parliament Liaison Office in Malta in collaboration with Spazju Kreattiv, organised the annual LUX Film Festival, screening the winner film together with the 2 other finalist films - "Cold Case" (Swedish) by Mads Brügger and "The Realm" (Spanish) by Rodrigo Sorogoyen. The 3 films were screened once at St James Cavalier Centre for Creativity at the heart of Valletta, with screenings attracting a nice number of patrons.
On both evenings, the patrons were offered an interesting introduction by Mr Luca ARRIGO, as Ground Gamer volunteer from the Erasmus Students Network (ESN) and Ms Elena CONOREA SANZ as EPLO traineee, about the LUX Prize and the value of European cinema, the messages that each film is trying to convey, and encouraged patrons to join the "together.eu" initative.
EPLO Staff provided a registration station on site at which patrons could stop and register directly on the "together.eu" platform.
For the occasion, bookmarks with a QR Code to the "together.eu" platform were also designed in-house and printed, to further enable patrons an easier online registration.
