I support this report as it highlights several key benefits that could be obtained by reducing barriers in the single market for defence. A more coherent single market would reduce production costs for European companies, thus increasing their competitiveness both within the EU and globally. We need to increase our own defence production capabilities, and we need to reduce reliance on 3rd countries susceptible to foul play. I agree with the report that our military production must be increased while also contributing further to research and development. Europe must become an innovator in this sector to further develop our defence. Finally, the report calls for Ukraine’s integration in European defence market and defence procurement landscape. As the largest and best trained army in Europe, their experience is priceless to us, and we should use it to better our own capacity and preparedness. Integrating Ukraine would serve as a sign of our steadfast support in the fight against the aggressor. It is a strategic investment in our continent’s future.
