Mobilisation of the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund: application EGF/2021/001 ES/País Vasco metal – Spain (A9-0319/2021 - Eider Gardiazabal Rubial)

25-11-2021
Written explanations of vote

I voted in favour of this Report, which will provide a rapid mobilisation of the Globalisation and Adjustment Fund for the affected sector in Spain. The application relates to 491 displaced workers whose activity has ceased, out of which 192 occurred in the course of collective redundancies that were notified to the authorities in six enterprises. The reference period of six months for the application runs from 2 June 2020 to 2 December 2020.

Introduction of a European Social Security pass for improving the digital enforcement of social security rights and fair mobility (B9-0551/2021)

25-11-2021
Written explanations of vote

I welcome the initiative of having a social security pass and agrees that the ESSPass initiative should be implemented, in order to facilitate EU worker mobility and further modernise the provision of public services. The ESSPass will enhance real-time data on social security coverage which eventually will result in efficient and effective services aimed at safeguarding the social security rights of EU citizens.

Multilateral negotiations in view of the 12th WTO Ministerial Conference in Geneva, 30 November to 3 December 2021 (B9-0550/2021)

25-11-2021
Written explanations of vote

I supported this resolution, which remains committed to multilateralism, but highlights that there is an urgency to proceed to a substantive reform of the WTO, in the light of the latest developments but also owing to the long-standing lack of progress on the Doha Development Agenda (DDA), and to fundamentally review several aspects of the WTO’s functioning with a view to increasing its effectiveness, transparency and legitimacy.
