Call for further sanctions on the Iranian regime

A draft resolution to be voted on at noon condemns the executions of peaceful protesters in Iran and calls on the Iranian authorities to immediately quash all death sentences. MEPs are also expected to call for further EU sanctions against the regime and for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and its subsidiary forces to be added to the EU’s terrorist list.

Special tribunal on the Russian crime of aggression against Ukraine

Plenary is set to demand, in a vote at noon, that a special international court be established to prosecute the Russian political and military leadership for the crime of aggression against Ukraine. International legal action would send a clear signal to Russia and the world, the draft text states.

Between 12.00 and 14.00, MEPs will also vote on:

  • the storming of the Brazilian democratic institutions;
  • the situation of journalists in Morocco, notably the case of Omar Radi;
  • the humanitarian consequences of the blockade in Nagorno-Karabakh;
  • annual reports on the activities of the European Investment Bank and the protection of the EU’s financial interests, and
  • the situation of small-scale fisheries in the EU and future perspectives.
