Parliament to debate practical details of Juncker Investment Plan

MEPs are set to debate the details of the European Fund for Strategic Investments - the cornerstone of the “Juncker Plan” - on Wednesday afternoon with Commission Vice-President responsible for Jobs, Growth, Investment and Competitiveness Jyrki Katainen.

The plan, for which the Commission approved its legislative proposal on 13 January, aims to mobilize €315 billion in public and private investments across the EU between 2015 and 2017.

MEPs are expected to put questions about the proposed favorable treatment, under Stability and Growth Pact rules, of national contributions to the fund. They may also raise practical concerns about the proposed €8 billion in investment guarantees from the EU’s multiannual budget, for which annual budgets need modifications, starting in 2015.

Procedure: Commission and Council statements (without resolution)

Debate: Wednesday, 28 January
