Climate change: MEPs to discuss roadmap to Paris conference

The roadmap to the next UN climate conference, in Paris (France) in December, will be discussed by MEPs, the Council and the Commission on Wednesday. The conference of parties (COP21) to the UN Convention on Climate Change aims to deliver a worldwide climate agreement to replace the Kyoto Protocol.

MEPs who attended the COP20 talks in Lima (Peru) last December say that EU diplomacy should strive to build bridges between developed and developing countries, as the most difficult questions, in particular climate mitigation, adaptation and finance, have been left open for Paris.
