Vote on the appointment of Mariya Gabriel, Commissioner-designate for Digital Economy and Society
On Tuesday, the Parliament will vote on the appointment of Mariya Gabriel, Bulgarian Commissioner-designate for Digital Economy and Society. In a public hearing on 20 June, Ms Gabriel replied to questions from different committees’ members assessing her skills. The Conference of Committee Chairs and subsequently the Conference of Presidents evaluated the assessment of the lead committees’ coordinators.
Ms Gabriel was nominated by Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker to take over the responsibility for the Digital Economy and Society portfolio.
The lead committees for this hearing were the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) and the Committee on Culture and Education (CULT). Internal Market, Legal Affairs and Civil Liberties committees are also involved in the discussion.
