Debate with Federica Mogherini on Gaza and Nicaragua

MEPs will debate the consequences of US President Donald Trump’s decision to open a US embassy in Jerusalem and the political turmoil in Nicaragua with EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini on Tuesday.

MEPs will focus on the recent deadly clashes at the Gaza-Israel border, which reportedly claimed more than 50 Palestinian lives, after the US inaugurated its first embassy in Jerusalem.

They will also debate the political situation in Nicaragua, where students and other opposition groups have taken to the streets to protest against the government’s tax and pension reforms. The demonstrations were met with excessive military and police force, reportedly leading to the deaths of more than 70 people.

The debate on Nicaragua will be wound up by resolution to be voted on Thursday.
