Czech President Petr Pavel to address MEPs
On Wednesday at 11.30, Petr Pavel, President of the Czech Republic, will address MEPs in a formal sitting.
Following his visit to the EU institutions in April 2023 - one of his first foreign trips after his election - President Pavel is expected to focus on the need to strengthen the European Union in a time of crisis and to call for a strong position against Russia and for peace in Ukraine - on Ukrainian terms.
Before becoming President of the Czech Republic in March 2023, Petr Pavel held several military positions in the country, including the Czech Chief of the General Staff, and as Chair of the NATO Military Committee from 2015 to 2018.
