MEPs to assess the EU’s economic prospects amid backdrop of global uncertainty  

On Tuesday, MEPs will discuss with the Commission its economic forecasts, with an expected focus on the uncertain geopolitical and trade contexts.

The Commission will present its Autumn Economic Forecast to plenary, after which MEPs will lay out their priorities and concerns. They are likely to discuss the potentially adverse economic impact of Donald Trump’s planned tariffs following his re-election, instability in the Middle East and in Europe’s Eastern neighbourhood, notably Ukraine, and the stagnation of China’s economy.

The economic troubles within the EU, in particular in the automotive sector, are also expected to feature prominently, as will calls for improving public investment rates and boosting competitiveness.
