MEP staff 

MEPs are free to select staff paid out of a budget allocation set by the EP at €29,557 per month (as of 01/01/2024).

All MEPs are entitled to the same amount and do not receive funds themselves. They may not employ close relatives and assistants must not engage in activities that could create a conflict of interest.

The Parliament publishes the names of all APAs, local assistants and paying agents on its website while they are under contract, unless they obtain a derogation on duly justified grounds of protection of their safety.
