MEP staff 

MEPs are free to select staff paid out of a monthly budget allocation set by the European Parliament.


All MEPs are entitled to the same amount and do not receive the funds themselves. They may not employ close relatives, and assistants must not engage in activities that could create a conflict of interest.


The Parliament publishes the names of all APAs (accredited parliamentary assistants), local assistants and paying agents on its website while they are under contract, unless they obtain a derogation on duly justified grounds of protection of their safety.
