Photo gallery: special Nobel Peace Prize exhibition opens in Brussels

It was dedicated to you and now it is in Brussels for you to see. The Nobel Peace Prize awarded to the EU last year is on display at Parliament's visitors centre until 6 October. Inaugurating the exhibition, EP president Martin Schulz said: "Understand what kind of precious gift it is for all of us to live in the EU in an era of peace on a continent that was too long, too often, a continent of war, of hate, of racism, of xenophobia, of anti-Semitism."

Mr Schulz also thanked the Nobel Peace Prize committee: "It was not an easy decision you have taken, but a wonderful decision, underlining one of the most important historical steps nations on our continent ever made: creating this EU of peace which must be also a union of solidarity, a union of social justice, a union of cohesion, where countries and nations across borders are working together instead of against each other."

The Nobel medal and certificate are on display until 6 October in the Parlamentarium in Brussels. Click on the link on the right for more details.
