  • 45 members
  • 12-month mandate

MEPs overwhelmingly decided on a show of hands to set up a new special committee on financial crime, tax evasion and avoidance on Thursday.

The new inquiry is partly a response to last year’s “Paradise Papers” revelations. It will pursue the work of the TAXE 1 and 2 committees, as well as the recently-ended PANA inquiry.

It will have 45 members and a 12-month mandate which begins immediately. The composition of the new committee will be decided at the March plenary session.
