Medicated feed: Green light to new rules to fight antimicrobial resistance
The deal with the Council on more responsible ways to produce, sell and use medicated feed to tackle the spread of antimicrobial resistance was endorsed by Agriculture MEPs on Tuesday.
The informally agreed text of the new EU law was backed in the Agriculture Committee by 40 votes in favour, with one abstention. The deal still needs to be formally approved by the full House, probably in October, and by the Council of EU ministers before the regulation can enter into force.
More information about new rules, as agreed by Parliament’s and Council’s negotiators on 19 June, is available here.
