EU collaborative defence projects and the development of EU capabilities should be on agenda at the meeting with the head of the European Defence Agency on Thursday.
Security and Defence Subcommittee MEPs will discuss the implementation of EU defence initiatives with Jiří Šedivý, new Chief Executive of the European Defence Agency. It is expected that MEPs will ask Mr Šedivý about the Agency’s priorities and possibilities in supporting PESCO defence projects and the results of the last steering committee of the Agency.
Jiří Šedivý, former Czech Defence Minister, took his office as new EDA Chief Executive on 4 May.
MEPs will also discuss amendments to the report on the Implementation and governance of Permanent Structured Cooperation PESCO (rapporteur Radosław Sikorski (EPP, PL)).
