Members of the Subcommittee on Security and Defence will discuss the COVID-19 pandemic repercussions on defence matters, as well as how to protect the European strategic autonomy, on Monday.
Members of the Subcommittee on Security and Defence will discuss the latest developments related to the ongoing global health crisis and its repercussions on the European defence and security mechanisms, on Monday.
Together with General Claudio Graziano, Chairman of the European Union Military Committee (EUMC), they will examine the role of the EUMC in the field of capability development, in particular with regard to the Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO). MEPs will also debate the Commission´s role in the efforts to ensure the strategic autonomy of the European Union with Timo Pesonen, Director General, DG Defence Industry and Space (DG DEFIS). He will inform the Members on a number of European defence programmes, such as the European Defence Fund (EDF) and Military Mobility.
