Conference on the Future of Europe: how to follow the second Plenary
Media are invited to follow the second Conference Plenary in Strasbourg on 22-23 October, which will focus on citizens’ contributions from a range of Conference components.
This media advisory provides information on the arrangements relating to the second meeting of the Conference Plenary including how to follow and cover it.
When: Friday 22 - Saturday 23 October 2021
Where: European Parliament in Strasbourg
In preparation for the Plenary meeting on Saturday, the nine Working Groups will take place on Friday in two slots, from 11.00 to 13.00 and from 14.00 to 16.00. The political families’ meetings will take place on Friday between 18.00 and 20.00. All meetings on Friday will take place in camera.

Media opportunities
Media representatives will be able to interview Plenary members who are willing to engage with journalists, using Parliament’s dedicated spaces and equipment if needed (booking required). Exchanges with members of the Common Secretariat as well as other technical experts, may also be possible, to be organised upon request. Press officers from the European institutions will be available to facilitate the process and liaise where necessary.
Audio-visual coverage
The Saturday session of the Conference Plenary will be broadcast live on EbS+. Extracts will also be available on EbS after the closing of the session. The session will also be live streamed on the Conference Platform and Parliament’s Multimedia Centre. All video, audio and photo coverage will be available to download.
Accreditation
Annual press badges (either inter-institutional badges or EP badges) are valid. Journalists without an access badge are kindly asked to request accreditation before 22 October at 16.00 via the journalist registration website. Badges must be collected by Friday 22 October until 18.00 from the Weiss reception desk (located at entrance number 4 of the Agora), or until 12.00 from the Churchill reception desk .
COVID-19 prevention measures
Journalists can attend, provided they strictly follow the health restrictions and measures put in place by the French authorities and the European Parliament. Any media physically present at the event are requested to respect social distancing of 1.5 m while on EP premises and to wear a medical face mask at all times. Entrance to Parliament wearing so-called ‘community masks’ or other masks made of textiles will not be allowed.
Access
Media access will be facilitated through the main entrance to the Louise Weiss building and the Churchill building entrance throughout the duration of the Conference Plenary - subject to the accreditation considerations set out above. The separate press entrance will be closed.
Working areas
The following areas will be accessible for journalists:
- Working space and access to the video feed inside the press room
- Press gallery of the chamber (photo agencies will also be able to enter the chamber)
- Media space outside the Hemicycle for video recording (booking required)
Wi-Fi will be available in all parts of the building. The login and password will be communicated on the day.
All journalists will be able to follow the Live coverage from the Press Room screens.
Audiovisual facilities (booking required)
The following audiovisual services will be provided:
- Live camera positions in self-service near the chamber. Each media is to bring its own equipment and cabling; power and internet broadband connection will be available
- Multimedia studio
