20th anniversary of the Euro and debate with ECB’s Christine Lagarde
After the opening, plenary will hold a ceremony for the 20th anniversary of the Euro, with contributions from EP President Roberta Metsola, European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde, Commissioner for Economy Paolo Gentiloni and Irene Tinagli, Chair of Parliament’s Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee. MEPs will then assess with Ms Lagarde the state of the European economy, focusing on inflation and recovery, and the work of the ECB. On Tuesday, they will vote on the ECB’s annual report (results on Wednesday).

European strategy for offshore renewable energy
MEPs will debate their recommendations on how to deploy offshore wind energy in Europe more quickly, as a means to contribute to the EU’s targets on reducing greenhouse emissions. Plenary will summarise its views in a report on Tuesday, with vote results announced on Wednesday.

In brief:
Work of the European Ombudsman in 2020. MEPs will debate a resolution assessing the work done by European Ombudsman Emily O'Reilly in 2020. The vote will take place on Tuesday (results announced on Wednesday).
Macro-financial assistance to Ukraine. Plenary will vote whether to apply an urgent procedure to approve a €1.2 billion macro-financial loan to help Ukraine cover its external financing needs in 2022. If agreed by MEPs, they will vote on the proposal itself later in the week.
Votes
There will be a remote voting session, from 18.00 to 19.15, with results announced on Tuesday at 8.30.
MEPs will vote, among other issues, on:
- urgent procedures for the support measures to rail in the context of COVID-19 and macro-financial assistance to Ukraine, and
- requests to waive the immunity of Elena Yoncheva (S&D, BG), Jörg Meuthen (ID, DE) and Álvaro Amaro (EPP, PT) and to defend the immunity of former MEP Mario Borghezio.
