Human rights and rule of law situation in Turkey
In a debate with Commissioner Várhelyi, MEPs are set to warn Turkey that it must improve its human rights and rule of law record if accession talks are to be pursued. They are also expected to raise the issue of Turkey’s president being opposed to Finland and Sweden’s accession to NATO. Plenary will vote on a resolution on Tuesday.

Ceremony for the CAP 60th anniversary
Immediately after the opening, MEPs will commemorate the 60th anniversary of the EU’s Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). EP President Roberta Metsola, French Minister for Agriculture and Food Sovereignty Marc Fesneau, Agriculture Commissioner Janusz Wojciechowski and the Committee for Agriculture and Rural Development Chair Norbert Lins (EPP, DE) will give speeches.
Question time on pesticides and consumer protection
Later in the afternoon, Commissioner Kyriakides will reply to MEPs’ questions on what measures the Commission is taking to reduce the use of pesticides and strengthen consumer protection. The debate will be organised under the “question time” format, in which several MEPs pose short questions, each one immediately followed by the response.

EU minimum wage: final negotiations
MEPs will attempt to agree with Council representatives new rules to ensure that all workers in the EU earn a fair and adequate salary. If talks conclude successfully, MEPs leading the negotiations on behalf of Parliament will hold a press conference on Tuesday at 9.30 in Strasbourg.

EU islands and cohesion policy. Plenary will discuss a draft report assessing the situation of EU islands and the role of cohesion policy in enhancing their development. The text will be put to the vote on Tuesday.
