On Tuesday, Parliament endorsed the nomination of Ms Keit Pentus-Rosimannus from Estonia to join the European Court of Auditors.
447 MEPs voted in favour of Ms Pentus-Rosimannus’ candidacy, 98 against, and 87 abstained.
Keit Pentus-Rosimannus, who was nominated by the Estonian government, has served as Estonian minister of Finance, Environment and Foreign Affairs. She is also a former member of the Estonian Parliament.
The final decision on Ms Pentus-Rosimannus’ appointment will be taken by EU member states.
The EU Treaty allows each member state to propose a candidate for the European Court of Auditors. Member states collectively, after consulting Parliament, appoint a nominee for a six-year term. The mandate of the previous Estonian member of the ECA Juhan Parts expires on 31 December 2022.
