Reforming the EU’s migration and asylum rules

In a debate with Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Swedish Minister for EU Affairs Jessika Roswall at 15.00, MEPs will outline their priorities on migration and asylum ahead of the 9-10 February summit. At their meeting in Brussels, Heads of State or Government will focus on how to make the European economy more competitive and on migration policy.

More fairness and transparency in political advertising

From around 16.30, MEPs will debate tougher rules on paid political advertising to make elections and referenda more transparent and resistant to interference. The vote on Parliament’s negotiating position for talks with Council on the new law will take place tomorrow.

Money laundering and terrorist financing

In an afternoon debate, MEPs will quiz Council and the Commission on the delay in adding new entries to the list of non-EU jurisdictions considered to be a high risk for money laundering or terrorist financing activities.
