Improving the energy performance of buildings to achieve EU climate goals

After the plenary opening, MEPs will discuss with Commissioner Simson draft legislation to drastically cut greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption of buildings, so the sector can become climate-neutral by 2050. In a vote on Tuesday, plenary will adopt its negotiating position ahead of talks with member states.

Fit for 55/Climate change: three new laws to reach the 2030 target

Starting around 19.00, plenary will debate with Commission Vice-President Timmermans agreements reached with the Council for new legislation on land use, land use change and forestry, member states’ emission reductions in transport, buildings and agriculture, and the revision of the Market Stability Reserve for the EU Emission Trading System. The three texts are part of the “Fit for 55 in 2030” package, the EU’s plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030. The final vote will take place on Tuesday.

Activities of the European Ombudsman. MEPs will discuss the annual report on the activities of the European Ombudsman for 2021 with Commission Vice-President Šefčovič, in the presence of Emily O'Reilly, the European Ombudsman, in a debate around 18.15.
