President Metsola spoke out against the new so-called anti-homosexuality bill in Uganda, at the opening of the session in Brussels.

Referring to the new bill passed by the Ugandan parliament last week, which could mean life sentences for people who identify as LGBTI, President Metsola said it was deeply concerning, as it targets entire communities and serves to scapegoat LGBTI persons. “This parliament has repeatedly reaffirmed that people should be allowed to live how they wish to live, be who they wish to be, and love as they wish to love. We reiterate that now”, she added.
