New rules to tackle companies’ impact on human rights and the environment

MEPs will discuss with Commissioner Reynders their position on the proposal to integrate the impact companies have on human rights and the environmental into companies’ governance, starting around 16.00. Tomorrow, Plenary will adopt its negotiating mandate ahead of talks with EU ministers on the final form of the legislation.

Hungary: threats to Rule of law and fundamental rights and frozen funds

From around 17.00, MEPs will debate with Commissioners Hahn and Reynders and Swedish EU Affairs Minister Roswall the democratic backslide in Hungary and the ongoing freeze of EU funds to the country. A press conference with lead MEPs will take place at 11.00. Plenary will vote on a resolution on Thursday.

Measures against sexual harassment

Plenary will evaluate the actions taken so far by EU institutions and countries to combat sexual harassment, in a debate with Commissioner Hahn from around 19.00. The draft resolution to be put to a vote on Thursday calls for better reporting procedures and more support for victims.

Revamped rules to ensure protection of quality agricultural products

The update to the rules for EU geographical indications for wine, spirit drinks and agricultural products will be the focus of a debate with Commissioner Wojciechowski starting around 18.00. MEPs will vote on their position on the proposal on Thursday.

In brief

Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili to address Parliament. Immediately after the opening at 15.00, President Zourabichvili will deliver a speech to plenary.

Rana Plaza ten-year anniversary. At around 15.30, President Metsola will honour the memory of the thousands of garment workers who lost their lives or were injured in the collapse of the Rana Plaza building, on 24 April 2013 in Dhaka (Bangladesh), followed by a round of interventions by the political groups.
