Financial aid to Ukraine: plenary debate and vote

From 9.00, plenary will review the EU plan to lend Ukraine up to €35 billion to support the country in its defence against Russia. The loan is part of a G7 financial assistance package to be repaid through frozen Russian Central bank assets. The vote will take place at noon.

Situation in Lebanon and protection of UN peace mission

Starting around 10.30, MEPs are set to call for an urgent ceasefire in Lebanon as well as for the protection of United Nations peacekeeping forces in the country (UNIFIL) following several recent attacks.

China’s provocations around Taiwan

In a debate starting around 18.30, MEPs are expected to criticise China’s growing military activity in the Taiwan Strait and express their solidarity with Taiwan as a repeated victim of foreign information manipulation and interference by China. A draft resolution will be put to the vote on Thursday.

In brief

EU budget for 2025. After the noon voting session, plenary will discuss its priorities for the 2025 EU budget, ahead of negotiations with the Council. The vote will take place on Wednesday.


Situation in Azerbaijan. From around 17.00, MEPS will debate the political and human rights situation in Azerbaijan, as well as its relations with Armenia, MEPs will adopt a resolution on the matter on Thursday.


Protection of European journalists reporting on Russia’s war in Ukraine. From around 14.00, MEPs will examine the risks faced by reporters covering the ongoing war in Ukraine.


State sponsored terrorism by Iran. Later in the evening, plenary will debate Iran’s alleged involvement in recent explosions, shootings and assassination attempts on European soil.


Votes

At 12.00, plenary will vote, among other topics, on:

  • a reform of the Single European Sky rules (TBC);
  • aid from the EU Globalisation Fund for Belgium, and
  • the budget discharge of 2022 for the European Council and Council of the EU.
