EU member states should pay particular attention to the needs of women in rural areas to create better living conditions and halt depopulation, say the Agriculture and Women’s Rights Committees in a resolution voted on Tuesday. Facilitating and promoting women’s access to the labour market in rural areas could be the key to sustaining populations in rural areas and should become a top priority in future rural development policies, they add.
