Committees’ meetings, Brussels


Mario Draghi. European Central Bank President Mario Draghi will attend his last "monetary dialogue" with the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee, to debate the ECB’s monetary policy in the euro area. Mr Draghi will also make his final appearance as Chair of the European Systemic Risk Board (Monday).


UN Summit. MEPs from the Environment and Development committees will attend the UN Summit on Sustainable Development Goals and Climate Action. The objectives are two-fold: to come up with realistic plans to reach the target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 45 per cent and to net zero emissions by 2050, and focus on accelerating the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (Monday to Wednesday).


European elections/Eurobarometer. The Parliament will publish the full results of a post-electoral Eurobarometer survey, one of the most comprehensive, publicly available quantitative surveys on the last European elections (Tuesday).

Multilingualism Day. Parliament will hold its third Multilingualism Day, where various activities will be organised to mark European Day of languages (26 September), Europe's linguistic diversity and show how interpreters and translators work. Events will take place in Parliament's buildings and hemicycle as well as the European House of History. (Saturday)


President’s diary. EP President David Sassoli will meet outgoing ECB President Mario Draghi, 12 Rabbis from different European countries as well as Austria’s National Council Speaker Wolfgang Sobotka, on Monday. On Tuesday, he will meet European Ombudsman O'Reilly and on Wednesday, he will attend the European Economic and Social Committee plenary session and meet SIAE (Italian society of authors and publishers) President Mogol. The next day, he will meet Croatia’s Prime Minister Andrej Plenković. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday President Sassoli will meet with a number of Commissioners-designate.


Press briefing. The EP Press Service will hold a press briefing on the week's activities at 11.00 a.m. on Monday, in the “Anna Politkovskaya” EP press conference room.


Briefing on Commissioners’ hearings. The EP Press service will hold a technical briefing on the upcoming hearings of Commissioners-designate on Thursday at 11.00, in the “Anna Politkovskaya” room.
